Please take a look at the options listed in the poll for selecting the 2012 FSU Contest subject categories, and make your selections.

The poll is multiple choice. Although the top three will go forward, you can select more than three. (However, there is no point in selecting all of them - that's the same as not voting at all.)

The poll runs for 10 days from Tuesday 6th March - ends on Friday the 16th.

What kinda FSU contest is this? Far too much democracy.
Shorten the rules, shorten the list and just TELL everyone what to submit:)

Can I interject with a possible vote-breaking thought?

Why is there an "anything goes" section? Surely if there is going to be an "anything goes" category for half-and-half combinations (Soviet lenses on other cameras and vice-versa), why does there need to be another one for Soviet purists?

Just a thought...

Hehehe, I was wondering the same thing! Yet, I'm kinda glad it's a category, because I'm getting a bit jittery looking at the poll results. Where I live, (remote island off of Newfoundland, which my health keeps me stuck on) I would be pretty much limited to just "Landscapes" and of course "Anything Goes". There are no streets, so "Street Photography" would be tricky. Not a lot of "Machinery" here; come to think of it, not much "Labour" happening either! Oh, wait a minute, I see there's a "Rural"... well there IS plenty of that. But at least "Anything Goes" would allow me to do what I have been doing all along, which about covers this rather unusual spot that I choose to call home. If things get hairy, I've got a bowl of fruit on the table! ("Still Life!)

This is a vote for the subject matter of the categories. The spirit of the contest is to use both FSU bodies and lenses, but there has been interest in the past, where people have asked if they can use their FSU lens on a non-FSU body. To make it a bit more inclusive, I added a new category (Popolam) for those using mixed equipment, and set the subject for that category open. So, Popolam is open in terms of subject, and the main 'full FSU' categories include an open one as an option that can be voted for.

In other words, the Anything Goes category here is for full FSU users.

I voted anything goes. I am going to try very hard to participate. I want to. But if I can't, why should I try in any way to restrict others?

Looking forward to it.

If someone gets a knockout photo that doesn't happen to fit any of the pre-ordained categories, it would be a shame not to let them use it here. It would be nice to have a catch-all category for this situation, IMO as a RFF member.

And don't forget you must have *at least* one portrait subject :)

Well, once the categories have been established, one is supposed to shoot with those categories in mind. Getting a knockout photo that doesn't fit a category means you have a knockout photo, but not one that you can enter into the contest. So you'll just have to post it somewhere as 'one that got away'. :)

Entering every category is not obligatory - it is a maximum of one per category.

See, democracy really is capitalist decadence. I'm with pakeha.

And of course I voted Labo(u)r.

P.S.: Happy International Women's Day.

There is an anything goes category for those using partial FSU kit (body or lens). This is separate from the anythnig goes category here, which is for the all-FSU users.
