Just a reminder that the shooting and uploading period for the 2012 FSU Contest has two weeks left to run as of today (16th June).

Closing date is end of June, so please make sure your shots are shot and uploaded by then.

Folks,

Be advised that today is the last day to upload photos for the contest. Later this evening, I will be asking admin to switch off uploading and change the galleries over to voting.

You have but a few short hours left.

Regarding the forthcoming ending of the uploading period, there are a few concerns to address...

Non-qualifying equipment.
Multiple entries in a single category.
Entries with no indication of equipment used.

These concerns are clarified below. If you have posted incorrectly, please remove the non-qualifying photos, and do so sooner rather than later. When admin is advised of the non-qualifying photos, the approach to their removal might not be as sympathetic as your own approach. (Think: Grim Reaper. :))

Non-qualifying equipment.
There are some photos which were not taken with appropriate equipment. To remind/clarify, this is a contest for FSU cameras and/or lenses - that's Former Soviet Union. Your Leica and Summicron (or whatever) does not qualify. If you have uploaded non-qualifying images, please remove or delete them.

Multiple entries in a single category.
Also, the rules state that the maximum number of entries per category is ONE. At least one person has uploaded more than one photo in at least one category. If these are non-qualifying images, please remove or delete them. If they are qualifying images, please select one to retain as your entry for that category, and remove or delete the rest.

Entries with no indication of equipment used.
There is a third concern, not strictly part of the rules (but maybe should have been), but which creates an issue in any case. Some photos have been posted with no indication of the camera or lens used. It is therefore not clear whether these are valid entries. Those who have omitted this information should be able to add it by clicking the little 'Edit Photo' icon in the row of icons under their image (it's a little computer screen with a yellow pencil over it). Again, if these are non-qualifying images, please remove or delete them.

For reference, the rules and contest info can be found here...

The request to admin to end the upload on the galleries has been held back until an entrant has had a chance to add camera/lens info to their images, or to remove them if they have been posted in error (a PM has been sent). The request to admin will be submitted tomorrow evening, UK time.

All,

I have asked admin to close the galleries and switch them over to voting. When this is done, there will be an announcement.

Be advised that those images with one or more of the issues highlighted in my earlier post will probably be removed. Sorry if any of these are yours.

As mentioned in the contest rules, the voting period will be extended to account for the timing of the closure and switchover to the start of voting (a July's worth of days, in other words).

I had been really looking forward to taking part in the contest, but unfortunately my ongoing health issues have kept me from participating, as I have been bedridden almost entirely for the past four months. I feel particularly glum, as one of our fine members had even graciously volunteered to develop my film for me. (thank-you so much for your kind offer) And a special thanks to those of you who even offered to extend the entry time period, to make it easier on me... I feel as though I have let you down. My apologies.

I had my freshly CLA'd Zorki-4 and FED 2 locked and loaded, but I guess it just was not meant to be. I will make a serious effort to get some photographs entered into next year's competition.

best regards,
Glen
