2016: a glut of cheap high quality digicams that nobody wants???

Beverly Hills and Port-au-Prince are under one same sky.

Did I say something wrong about Ikea or digital? If so, I am sorry. I don't want to hurt no digital or ikea.

Back alley, your comment is quite revealing of one's perception and the human condition in general.
I understand that you fiddle with bags. For me, and you might not like this: it's all peanuts stuff. And as we speak, other people (like me, these days) fiddle
with 3000-4000$ chandeliers and 4000-8000$ tables. I'm also looking for 4 chairs ranging anywhere from 1k to 3k each. Obviously, you won't see me finding those at an Ikea.
Are you surprised?

For a forum with a large number of international members from many different nations, this kind of comment is inflammatory and should be removed; membership privileges for the poster ought to be revoked.

RFF has until now largely avoided both national and class enmity. Let's keep it that way, folks!

Which means that when 2016 rolls around, the same group of people are going to be fantasizing about being able to buy that year's camera -- 80MP, ISO 1,000,000, whatever -- in 2020.

And that's what camera manufacturers now rely upon -- not the reality of photographers' needs, which were exceeded years ago, but a perceived need, a psychological need to keep up.

Nyquist limits demonstrate that 50MP's is about the limit for FF. ~32MP for APS..
Refinements will come from automation of processing and editing, plus communications.

PC ownership will plummet so most editing will occur on tablets or in-camera.

Everything will be cheaper as photography is--once again--going back to being a commodity biz.

Paul 🙂
I blame it on my customers, though: The luxury market is what it is.
That's why my position on the newest leica 50 asph was so simplistic: they charge because they can, pure and simple. No extra super quality involved. All in the name and perception.

The only "statement" that will make in 2030 is as proof of the breathtaking ignorance that was present in 2013.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deforestation_in_Indonesia

Just like the ignorance for the past 50 years that cause all sorts of cancers, especially today.
All the plastics surrounding us, the paints, the fumes emanating from our clothes. The water that we drink is poisoned with so many chemicals such as contraceptives and anti-depressive chemicals. We are all walking-deads one way or another.
And cancer, it has sadly become a business. I predict that 100% of the people of our generation will have cancer one day in life and either recover from it or die from it. Cancer is slowly becoming as banalized as a cold.

Deforestation? Not as bad as the pollution caused by other industries such as the digital industry. And I love my table. At least it's not made of cancer-causing plastic.
🙂

All this digital BS mainly aims at the Ikea crowd.

Thats a little simplyfied... but when talking about the masses then you my sir are correct. But thats what for Ikea is, for the masses. 7 billion people cant get Bali wooden tables and start wet plate photography. Fast comsumption, thats what this is. 🙂

So, I guess heart disease is a non issue?

You need to come back to reality...

If there's a glut and high quality, of course they'll be cheap.By a bunch. Keep one in the car, cottage, bathroom.

Ikea = semi-disposable furniture.

somebody found this thread an excuse to brag ... 🙂
There are those among us who feel more or less guilty at having so much, when others have so little, and those among us for whom the word "enough" apparently has no meaning.

One of the realms of existence in Tibetan Buddhism is peopled by the Hungry Ghosts. They are portrayed as having huge stomachs, and thin necks through which they can never force enough food to fill their stomachs.

Cheers,

R.

And this from the same person who complains about $20/mo for photoshop.

Such a thread serves as a good reminder that a website reflects many sections of the society. Some people are "different", some are "annoying", some are .....

And that's why I still follow this thread, even if we are already lost in an amusing, different and somehow boring OT discussion...😀

Raid, please allow me to extrapolate.. " some are .....": ##$$$***#*$*@**#*$*$$$$ !

If you are refering to me, might I ask you what's different between someone buying 16000$ of furniture versus someone buying a Noct-Asph + M9 kit??

Really, what makes one better then the other (according to you)? One is a "%^&%$" and the other is a Cool person?

clint...we clearly live in different worlds with different priorities and different budgets...i can live with that reality.

you seem ok with your station in life...except for the need to use it as a weapon against others...here at rff, at least.

i find in dealing with my world that it's not usually what i say or do but more how i say it or do it...this is our biggest difference.

Ok. I will try to be more moderate in the future.
