Already Jim has contacted me about our once a year festive event. This will be our eight year.

I think many will find that the RocHard has much of the flavor of our old Puck Fair. It is less crowded, less noisy, and more relaxed that Lorelie's.

It seems that Pro-Mone might have found a very cool venue that gives off that NOLA vibe to go with our Carnival motif.

1803 was the year of the Louisiana Purchase.

Has a balcony for security.

If we can make it, I'll be bringing something a little different...

I’m always curious what you have been building. I recently found 3 torpedo camera backs in somewhat rough shape. These are 6x18 120 film backs that were part of a camera system for torpedo target training with Navy aircraft. Let me know if you want one of them. They are basically half a panorama camera waiting for a body and lens. I only want to keep the best one, I’m trying to limit the stock piling of bulky camera parts, as I have a lot already.

Fidel, I heard with enough beads Cal will take his shirt off

Pro-Mone,

Artist by definition are exhibitionists.

Also know that I'm in the process of applying for a fellowship that also includes a group show. The deadline is January 15th. It is a lot of work putting together an application. I hope to be one of ten selected.

Includes online and print publication. Had to supply a 300 DPI head and shoulder shot, so I wonder is this is also a "beauty contest." LOL.

Had to submit seven shots for evaluation. The big thing for me besides the $1K payment is the artistic development support.

Notification is in March.

Can't believe this will be the first one I miss. If someone can help me out and take some cell phone (at least) shots, I'd appreciate it.

John, I’ll live stream it on Ingram for you... lol

Fidel,

The Broadcast Engineer in you is revealed.

It seems that instagram is no joke. "Maggie" now has 285K followers and most of the photography is mine. Now she is getting solicited for shots and I'm getting paid for selling "usage." I still retain the rights.

What I learned is to only give time-limited usage. If the client wants more time-limit then I charge them for it.

Also all these media companys say, "We have no budget," but this is a lie. It is really funny how these same media companies then come back saying, "We found some money." Then the Brooklyn tough guy comes out in me, and I mug them.

Pretty much there are so many people willing to work for free to get exposure, but now the gigs have to be paying. "Maggie" just turned down a TV show appearence. We know the riff, "We have no money," but now it is unless you are a member of SAG (Stage Actors' Guild). So what is the truth? They have the money, but they want you to work for free.

I now enjoy being a thug. I get paid now and am no longer a ho.

Also kinda funny how Maggie's followers like my shots more than the pro's. Terry Richardson's (Uncle Terry) Valentino eyewear ad when reposted only got 5K likes, but my shots consistently get 12K-15K and even 20K likes. LOL.

BTW the money is good. A friend of mine explained around the time of the 6 million dollar JFK Airport heist that if you are going to steal, then steal big. Basically the moral of the story was crime does pay: if you steal, then steal big. Pretty much it comes down to risk verses reward. Going to jail for a petty crime is just plain dumb: Again if you are going to steal-steal big. Pays to be greedy.

Somehow I made a crazy number for a fee, and now I'm getting paid. WTF? The money is big enough that I can't help but feel like I'm stealing. Now I feel like a bankster. LOL.

If I make it, I'll be shooting 16mm film of the awards. Footage will eventually make it to youtube.

Where is the location of the "meet-up" ??

M-N-F2,

So far this has not been determined, except that it will be in Madhattan.

Currently for the January Meet-Up it will be held at the Rochard on Lexington and 97th Street. This is a new location. Lorelie's kinda gets crowded and gets too loud.

The February event will be the eighth year of our annual event. Basically we make fun of our culture of being photographers, and it is gear centric. Expect to see rare and unusual gear. It all started eight years ago when seriously we had a "Camera Beauty Contest."

It is also a bit of a swap-meet.

Pro-Mone suggests 1803, a bar resturant that has a NOLA theme, but I have a feeling that the Sunday he was there it was not crowded due to the extreme cold artic weather. Otherwise downtown locations seem to be overly crowded. Read Street is by City Hall and is in a tourist area.

Most likely choice on short notice for February grand event will be the Rochard. Pretty much a low key uptown bar.

One time at the "Public" in Harlem we litterally created a flash mob of about 50 people, but shortly thereafter the bar became too crowded and popular. Since last November we more or less have had monthly Meet-Ups for over eight years. This November will be our ninth year.

We also do other events like trips to Philly to eat and shoot. Another time we visited Eastern State Penitentury to shoot. Most of the time it is just a group of regulars, but every year our big annual event draws a big crowd. Also know we have guests from all over the world drop in.

BTW Phil from above and others will be coming from Philly.

Sounds like a really good time will be had by all.

If you could send me a PM when you know the date & location. I might be able to fly in & take a taxi to the location.
