Sounds like a really good time will be had by all.
If you could send me a PM when you know the date & location. I might be able to fly in & take a taxi to the location.
M-N-F2
Here is some smut: I know someone will be bringing in a killer camera you definitely will be interested in seeing.
Also is there a date that would be convenient for you? Generally we pick a Sunday so you have a choice of the 4th, 11th, 18th or 25th.

Someone we all know from the Meet-Up needs to take his due and has to not be so humble. We all know that I like to print big, but this guy again crushes me with a really big print that will be on public display in another country.
When I say this is big, I'm not kidding. This humble artist is way too quiet, and he should at least take credit for a great accomplishment: to be commissioned for a huge print that will be in held in public display.
Anyways "I was just minding my own business" when I get contacted for some emergency "proofing" during the workweek by a frantic artist. LOL. You all know me as a big smut queen. This thing is happening, and I'm excited for him. "Crazy is good," I say.
You know who you are. Time to fess up and claim some credit. Here is your platform.

If I make it, I'll be shooting 16mm film of the awards. Footage will eventually make it to youtube.

Cool...in many ways!
John, will you be coming back for another visit? sorry I missed you the last time.
Yes, sometimes during 2018. I'll certainly make a meet-up when I do... and we can have some lunch!

Cal, as one of your world-wide guests, I can vouch for the great fun at the annual show-and-tell, not just for the expositions of obscure gear, but the total friendliness and bonhomie of all the attendees. Every year since the time I went in 2016, which you kindly brought forward to January for me, I've wanted to go again. Also, winter is a great time to visit New York, for this heat struck Australian. Moreover, I get to see my good friend, JMQ.

Pete, please come again....though we can't guarantee another snow storm for you -- we just had one last week.

Jean-Marc, I know, Snowmaggedon in 2016 and, what, Snow Bomb or something this year. I loved it in 2016, the day after the blizzard. Wish me a snow storm when I come next.

So at least one of my shots of "Maggie" will be part of a video installation that includes a wide screen TV and 50 smaller monitors that will be in a storefront in Davos for the World Economic Conference.
Also I will be getting paid. Hopefully they use more than one shot because I'm greedy. LOL. Maggie worked as my agent and bumped up my fee, but will be skinning off $100.00 as her commission. Good thing for me is that she is bad in math and is only charging me 13.3% commission instead of the usual 20%. Pretty much all I am have to do is cash the check or deposit the cash. Perfect slacker's job.
As a prize I will be recycling these 1 liter clear plastic lab containers. I used these to hold 18 megaohm water that I get from a reverse osmosis water purification system in one of my labs. I feel this chemically pure water makes for better negatives. The nice thing about these containers are that they are graduated and have big open spouts like a bottle of Gatorade. I likely have about 24-30 of these.
I'm upgrading to gallon brown glass containers. My development capabilities include an 18 reel 120 dip and dunk set-up that uses 3 1/2 gallon tanks. I also have my 7 liter JOBO for 70mm 15 foot reels that require about 7 liters. Seems like my developing will be at a more commercial level going forward.
People need to aggressively make a claim. I'll do a tally later tonight. These graduated plastic containers are the best. They really are an asset.
Also I have mucho filters. Many are Leica size 39mm and 46 mm Let's do some big time swapping. Most are B&W yellows and orange.
Looks like Maggie will be traveling to Japan for a shoot.

Robert,
In the past I was just a big "Ho." Pretty much I worked for free.
Getting a shot published in print in Vogue Italia is another really big deal. Out of all the editions of Vogue it seems the Italian version seems to be the most critical about their photography.
All the other publishing online around the world is not the same. Vogue Italia is very high profile. Why didn't they publish my photo credit?
Also I learned a lot about having self respect. These editors, art directors, and agents all try to hose you. Pretty much you have to stand up to them and tell them you are no longer a "Ho." Now you are a professional prostitute who wants to get paid. LOL.
Interesting on how much just the rights to my photo's are worth. I now have to think of higher prices on my limited edition prints when I do finally print and market them. Seems like I had too low a price on my prints, even though I have not printed these limited editions yet.
Seems like many artists need an exhibition history to gain credibility, but in my case I have widespread publication to support my popularity. I also like how I'm now getting solicited, I particularly love getting paid for basically doing a We Transfer. Pretty much is like my own personal crypto currency. LOL.

It seems that Pro-Mone might have found a very cool venue that gives off that NOLA vibe to go with our Carnival motif.
1803 was the year of the Louisiana Purchase.
Has a balcony for security.
Cal
So now it is looking good to use 1803 as the location for our venue. I learned from Pro-Mone that we can reserve the Balconey. This is great because of security. Usually we have a huge turn out of rare, exotic, and expensive gear.
The only thing is we need to have a head-count to secure the reservation. We also need to firm up the date. Sooner is better. The 11th and 18th bookend Valentine's Day so it likely would be good to avoid those two Sunday's. So how about Sunday the 25th?
So lets start the LIST:
1; Calzone (Gear Whore)
2; Pro-Mone
3; Bob (Range-Rover)
4; Phil from Philly (Contact Phil about a carpool)
5; Christian (CCNY)
6; Fidel
7: Joe
I'll all to this post all that follow so we somehow have only one main list. So who can make it on Sunday the 25th?

Cal,
more tha 10 years ago I took a workshop with Steve Sebring who had worked for some time in Italy. He told us Vogue Italia was one of the most interesting magazine for what concerns the published photo. In his opinion it was due to the fact that having a lower number of copies, let say a lower public the editors could take more risk in publishing the photos where in other countries like US they had to be more careful and of consequence more conservative.
You are right, if you have to sell your work sell it for high prices: when I was still working my boss used to tell me that the fact our company had higher prices compared to the competitors was an huge advantage for us because price is a communication tool, high price, high quality.

Cal, have you finalized the meet-up date in February? thx.
Jean Marc,
If it is agreeable we will make it Sunday February 25th at 1803.
It seems like we can reserve the balcony, but to do that we need a head count. See the guest list I started on "Post 33." As people sign up I'll add to "Post 33."

Robert,
People look for quality and are willing to pay for it. In fine art I found out that reputation for quality and rarity is the way to command high prices.

Because I have a wonderful "Hamertone" M4 lets have a painted camera competition. Brassing not required. Also old Nikons welcomed.
Also let's have a M4 competition. I would love to see Phil's legendary M4 that was a combat camera. I'll bring my F3P that was in "Operation Desert Storm."

Jean-Marc,
Could you bring your black paint IIIG? Lets do a team-camera. I own the rarer silver version Pentax-L "Special" 43/1.9. It seems especlly made for LTM cameras. On a IIIG the entire VF'er can be used for framing, and the external Pentax VF'er has the right offset for mounting on a LTM camera. The Pentax VF'er offers a diopter adjustment, 43mm and 50mm framelines, and the entire window makes for a perfect 35 mm frame.
I can bring my 35/1.8 Nikkor in LTM (only about 1700 ever made) and my rare silver Pentax-L.
Lets do a "Team-Camera."
