So as usual I try to create a grand speck-tic-Cal, and this year will be our eighth year of making fun of our camera culture and ourselves.

At this point I don't know if our 2018 grand event will be in January or February, but I got an idea of changing the location because Lorelie's is not the best place to host our event. The noise level is high and the crowded space does not promote circulating and socializing.

So here is my plan: On Lexington and 97th is a bar that just got taken over and renovated in technically would be downtown SpaHa. The 6 Train is one block away, and the "Q" train is three blocks away. I see no wide screen TV's so it is not a sports bar where things get loud. So this will be part "A" of the Meet-Up where people can eat and drink.

Part "B" is a migration to the Community Room of my luxury building on Lexington and 101st. Pretty much a private space that is secure. The logistics offers shielding my cluttered living space, and basically there is a gym, shared community room, and a patio deck and enough space to comfortably fit 25-30 people.

I can imagine perhaps in the summer doing a BBQ/Meet-Up/walk to the Bronx to shoot using this infrastructure. At East 102d is the pedestrian bridge to Randle's Island and easy access to Mott Haven and Port Morris, although the best light to shoot these locations is the early morning.

Also I feel that some of the experiences and smut I am learning about galleries should be shared. We have created a "safe place" where it is okay to be a camera nerd, or a bit crazy with photography. Basically we have a support group where we help each other, but despite all we share we also are all in different spaces and pursuits. I strongly feel that limiting our Meet-Ups to a loud and crowded bar imposes serious restrictions.

Anyways I'm tabling this so we can make it real.

Your right Cal, the last time we had the meet, it was a bit hectic there, very crowded
plus we got stuck in the corner with not much space so we should really look for a
different place. It could of been the marathon weekend and that could of effected
it I don't know.

I don't think thats a very good idea Cal. You're place is too far uptown. Also the whole point this works is because of the food+drink+gear. Maybe midtown or alphabet city? I don't have a viable candidate unfortunatly

Pro-Mone,

Unfortunately locals in the Upper Eastside have brunch crowds and get mobbed. The Upper Westside is more of the same.

The idea concept here is to avoid the mobbing and crowding, thus we need to go off the beaten track. I don't see any value added by Lorelie's. Basically any other bar could replace and be better. Food+drink+beer is pretty much any bar, but to regain a sense of space where we avoid the crowds and noise. Downtown is a unlikely place.

The subways on 96th Street (Q and 6) as well as the crosstown bus on 96th Street is rather close by and convenient. As far as midtown and Alphabet City on the Lower Eastside, I spent some time trying to locate an alternative to Puck Fair with no good or suitable alternative.

That's true, I used to get off at 125th street and walk across to the 2 or 3 train,
after awhile some of the street vendor's would say hello and booth clerk at the
station.
