21/4 flare

Ok, here is an example from the 28/3.5. Flare galore!

I've always had the opinion that multicoating is -way- overrated. Multicoating will not stop you from getting the hexagons. Careful camera positioning and use of the Hollywood "gobo" or "go between" for efficent shading in extreme conditions works well for me. Just cast a shadow on the front element, with a hat (or your hand!), or whatever is handy, just out of the camera frame. Now -that- makes a huge difference!

The CV 21/4 flares a lot, opposed to the 15/4.5. Detail sharpness is also weaker. In fact, if you crop a 15/4.5 picture you may do better.

A 21/4 is fine for many reasons. But I do a lot of street and reportage photography, but as it created flare in important areas in my photos I stopped using it and sold it. I still miss the small bloke but then I remember the photos it killed.
