I have a 21/2.8 and have been thinking about getting a 28mm finder so i can make better use of it on the M8. first, anybody have any 28 finder recommendations? i've been looking at the metal voigtlander, and have read that the 21/28 ricoh is good too...
secondly, and maybe more importantly, i've realized that i don't really like using external finders all that much and have been thinking of selling the 21 and getting a 24 so i could use it on the M8 w/o a finder. has anybody gone a similar route? i don't think i'll miss the 3mm on a film body all that much, but does the 24 on the M8 still have the feel of being wide? i know it translates to 32mm, but how does it really feel?

I have a CV 25mm and I am looking to replace it with a 21mm. I have the Leica 3-in-1 external finder which just arrived today. Is your 21mm Leica or Zeiss?

What type of shooting do you do? I find that if you move your eye around the viewfinder, you can estimate the coverage of the 21 quite well. Of course if you prefer to see outside the framelines, then a 24/25 might be better.

I haven't tried a 21, but my 24 Elmarit fits the M8 viewfinder perfectly. Along with my 35 Zeiss and 50 summilux, that's all I need.

macmx, how does your 24 on the m8 feel compared to a 35 on a film body? similar, or wider? any jpegs?
i've tried using the whole finder to frame with the 21 on the m8, but it doesn't work well for me. not comfortable, as i end up peering way up into the corners, and it slows me down. i either need to get a 28 finder or sell the 21 and get a 24. don't really look forward to the selling and buying process, but also really would like to avoid the external finder. ahh, choices. so, any finder likes or dislikes or anybody wanting to trade a 24 for a 21 (leica only), lemme know!

What do you think of the CV 25? I see the current one comes in an M mount and its a lot!!! cheaper then the leica.

I use the 21mm

I use the 21mm

FWIW, I modified my CV 21 so it brings up the 28/90 frame on the M8. With the M8's crop factor, it is appears close enough for me. Don't know why you would need an external finder, you could even use the 24/35 framelines.

I agree that moving the eye around works well with a 21mm.
