I recall some for sale in Adorama, some time ago, at around $1,400 or thereabouts. The current ones (as you surely know), won't go below $2,500.

At the beginning of this year (or maybe end of 2007), KEN HANSEN'S EBAY STORE had one going for a grand. Just the lens and caps. No hood or VF. I cannot recall if it was the Asph or not, though. Probably it was the pre-Asph. In any event, if you're budgeting for one, go a bit over that amount.

I picked it up. Version#2 w/ 60mm filter. It came w/ a cheapo VC finder that should do the job...have a lot shooting to do this weekend. Going over to flickr to look for examples.

I just sold one with a viewfinder and viewfinder case for about 1500.00.

does anybody have comparison shots between this lens and the Super-Angulon 21mm?

i got the 21mm Elmarit in a package with my body (R-D!). i have no complaints about the optical quality of the lens -- it's just huge! i was able to try out the SA 21/3.4 and fell in love with the size. i know it has metering issues and vignetting, but i was fairly charmed.

i'd love to hear or see people's thoughts on one lens versus the other.
