I just entered "Nikon Nikkor 2.1cm" in the ebay search field, and two F mount versions came up. $449.99 and $448.00. There's also an S series version at $7,995.00. I just got a 20mm Nikkor, f3.5 UD version, and am not so interested in futzing with the 2.1cm f4 version, whatever its merits. After checking out a couple of shots with the UD from my D90, it'll do.

Just get the Voigtlander 21mm. It's a great lens. Since I have one in LTM, I got the Voigtlander 25mm SC instead. Works well on my Contax IIa and my SP.

One advantage of the Nikkor (and Cosina) is the very low weight. I have a Biogon 21/4.5 from th4e 1950s, and it is an extraordinarily heavy lens for its size. The Zeiss lens is all heavy chrome and brass; 300 grams (10 ounces -- more than half a pound, and more than half the weight of a camera body).

This lens is obviously (to me at least) a priceless collectible. I'm sure something by Zeiss or even Voigtlander will outperform it, but that's not the point.

The 20/3.5 UD is a retrofocus lens while the Nikkor-O 21/4 is a true Biogon design so you are comparing oranges with apples.

And you cannot mount the Nikkor-O 21/4 (F mount) on the D90 because you cannot lock the mirror up.

I tried to be brief, but apparently was just unclear. I mentioned the UD to make it clear that I wasn't interested in picking up one of the two 21mm Os on ebay. No comparison intended, as that would be apples to oranges. I also have an F3 and an F5, but am not interested in mounting the, to me, awkward O on either of those. I don't even know, or care, if that's possible. I got the UD last Tuesday, shot a few frames with it on the F3, then had it AI'd. Picked it up on Friday, put it on the F5 and fired a few more frames. None of that has been processed yet, of course. The D90 gave me an immediate, positive impression of how it will perform.

I had not at all considered trying to mount a Nkkkor O on any of the three Nikon bodies I have, but especially not the D90. I try not to break my equipment.
