An oldie - but still one of my favorite shots with the SA 21f3.4.
Paris, 1983 (and you could still park under the Eiffel Tower).
TriX, D76 1:1 11 min.

The combination of Kodachrome 25 and the Super Angulon 21f3.4 is a classic.
This is from Beersheba in Israel (1984).

Greetings to everyone,
I have just taken delivery of an f4 Super Angulon in LTM form. It looks nice, the aperture ring feels really smooth, etc. Initially, I'll be using this on my M4 and so of course I have placed an LTM-M adapter on the lens. I am curious about something, however.
It appears that the lens is rotated approximately 40 degrees or so counterclockwise (when looking at it head-on). That is, the infinity lock button, normally (or in my experience) located at about 7 o'clock is, on this example, sitting at about 5:30. Thus, the infinity mark on the barrel is almost in line with the red mounting dot.
I'll be shooting with the lens starting tomorrow and hopefully all will be fine as regards the results. Anyone here have experience with the LTM version and can comment on what I'm seeing? Is this normal, or perhaps evidence of a re-assembly that wasn't quite right?
BTW, I also notice that the rangefinder coupling doesn't extend too far with it mounted on the M4 but I read somewhere that the range of coupling depends on the particular M model...?
Thanks for any comments and/or suggestions.

Johan, you are correct: it was the adapter. I checked it with a Leitz adapter from another lens and it works great. Now I'll just have to get another authentic adapter.
Thanks!

I haven't shot my 21 SA in a long time. I'm currently trying some Portra 160 and liking it a lot and I've also blown the cobwebs of the SA, I must use it more!

Size comparison between the Super Angulon 21f3.4 and the new Super Elmar-M 21mm f3.4. Mine is one from the first batch - most were recalled as they could "bind" on M8/M9's. The revised version has a slightly larger diameter rear mount. Performance is the same.
The SA 21 sits deeper in the body and protrudes less. However the SEM 21f3.4 has a much improved aperture ring. Easy to turn and grip. The SA 21 has the ring right up against the hood - and it is very narrow so it can be difficult to turn.

Last week in Pittsburgh. It was "Homecoming Queen" election time - and the candidates and their support were drumming up votes.
