helen, that's an awfully familiar spot :D central park? I like to sneak around and take some snap shots in the summer.

Finally!!!

Finally!!!

It has been 6 months, almost to the day, since I purchased my 21/3.4 S.A. here on RFF, and it is just now, finally, back from its many repairs and ready to be used.

My apologies, as these pictures of autumn foliage are aggressively mediocre, but I'm just glad to be able to shoot something -- anything -- with this lens! :)

Shot today on my Epson R-D1 at ISO 200 with the 21/3.4 S.A. at f/8:

I am waiting to get my SA. Monday morning is the time I will pick it up and start shooting. What a bliss! This thread is great. Especially since I am no longer a 'wannabuy' part of the crowd :)

Got it this afternoon. Looks nice. I think I can use it without the external finder (that I have) and check the coverage at the outmost corners of my M2. Should work but less bright than the Leica 21mm finder. Has someone tried that stunt with the M2?

MIKEL: THANX for your comments ...xo

instantclasic:
most of my shots were M2
then an M4
CONGRATS on the SA ....its a jewel for a retro 'LOOK'

Best - ;) helen

Robert, very beautiful ! I tried the SA 21/3.4 yesterday with my friends M8, even worked in AE mode with EV set to +2 1/3 :)

Steve, I just use a mixture of 500ml HC-110 "B" with added 5 ml of Rodinal and developed for 7 minutes at 20 degrees Celsius with 20 gentile agitations in the beginning and one inversion every minute afterwards.

21/3.4 is my absolute favorite, too

Nice shots Roma... Gabor, I've been a fan of yours for years ;)

The vignetting is nuts (in a good way!) & the rendering is so fantastic :p

First & 3rd are Ilford XP2, 2nd is TX @ 800, which is my preferred film/speed for the 21.

I've owned a Super Angulon 21mm f/4. I've read here and there it is a bad lens, essentially from people that never had one, like usual. Mine was never repaired, nor dented, I was the second owner since new. I've tried it with T-Max 100 and it was absolutely brilliant, relative to its symmetrical design that achieves the best resolution about f/16 without corner definition fall off, and only slight vignetting. At full aperture, it is evident you cannot have a perfect image. I sold it here past year with finder.

I've read around that this lens doesn't meter correctly unless you disassemble and mod. However, I've been looking for a wide-angle lens, and I'm really quite interested in the 21mm SA. Possibly needing an external meter's turning me off a bit though :(
