The moment I thought I have cured my GAS, this have to come along and torment me! I do hope that this commemorative set is not restricted to the Europran market as I want that 50mm/2 lens!
Likewise! - my wife thinks that I own enough camera gear - I disagree of course. The silver version looks so cool as well.... Oh hum, 🙁

Hi all,

today i re-visited the voigtlaender.de site. They´ve put up a price of EUR 999 for the commemorative edition. Please note this price includes the german VAT of 16%.

This will give me a sleepless night or two, i´m sure.

take care,

IRRC Voigtlander first became famous in photography for a fast lens (for the day - probably about f/5.6) that was a boon for portraits. Sitters only had to hold still for about a minute, instead of several minutes!

We are talking $999 plus sales tax if the euro price includes 16% German VAT/Sales tax as mentioned above.

Converting Euro's to Dollar's it looks like we're talking $1,199.25 (At least with todays exchange rate)

Stephen at Cameraquest thinks *maybe* the price he'll have them for might be a little better. Nothing solid yet though....

For all those that wished for a 100% mechanical M mount RF, the rebadged R2 is just what the doctor ordered.

However, it is also could be the case that Cosina has hit the hight point on its arc and is reduced to making caameras for collectors.

What we really need is an aftermarket digital back for the L, T, R, R2 and R2/3a. Whoever does that will be a real winner.

Then why not simply get a real R2 for much cheaper?

Where? There's none of eBay currently for sale, nor even in the completed sales search.

Mainly due to the fact that the people who actually have them don't seem to want to sell them??? I see lot's of R3As, a handfull of R2As and no R2s on the market. Says a bit about what the community thinks of the relative merits of the cameras 😀 I will be very interested to see where the R2M & R3M fall out...

Me, I only want the 50/2 Heliar on my CL, so it's not that big an issue.

Well, if the only reason people are keeping their R2 cameras but reselling their R2a and R3a bodies is that they prefer a mechanical, battery-independent shutter, the Zeiss Ikon should turn out a massive flop.

They have produced "Optics" for 250 years. Optics for microscopes, etc. Lots of Optic work before the invention of photography. I have a few Voigtlander lenses from the mid-19th century, and they are very well made for the time period. View Camera type lenses.
