The frame line for my 25mm Voightlander finder has taken it upon itself to turn this way and that. Before I take out the two screws holding it together will I be able to fix the problem? I don't want to muck things up worse then they are.I'm taking the L and 25 to NY tomorrow. Oh yeah, I now use Gaffers tape to hold the finder in the shoe. Regards,Bill

I've never taken one apart but I think I would play it safe. If you are going to NYC pay a visit to Rich Pinto at Photo Village (Rich sells CV) and give him the VF and ask him to fix it.

Go ahead...

Go ahead...

I had exactly the same problem with exactly the same finder...the black plastic 25mm finder. Decided to give it a try, even though I don't do any of the camera repairs and maintenance that so many here seem to be comfortable doing. I can assure you, it is very simple and as you would expect on the inside...no weird surprises, like springs or something...there is nothing at all complicated about it. I was in a hurry so I just reassembled the viewer after aligning the little window, and it hasn't moved since then, but it probably would've been smart to have put a tiny bit of glue or something to secure it. Anyway, my advice is to go ahead and give it a try...it's not difficult at all.

You may have to file for bankruptsy, though. Not that Photo Village is expensive; but what stuff! And such nice staff.

Hi all, I'm back from NY and was able to complete the work I needed to do on my Mom's house.I did manage to get into the City and stopped at Photo Village. What a great place! Rich wasn't there but a nice guy named Will took care of my needs.I bought another 25 finder w/o the frame lines which I find easier to use and the mini 28/35 finder which is now attached to the top of my LX1.Great for street use.My sister purchased a camera. So all in all it was a nice visit. I will go back as it was like being a kid in a candy store. I took my original finder apart and was able to fix the problem easily with a dab or two of clear nail polish. Thanks for the suggestions and I would recommend a visit to Photo Village. Regards,Bill

Yes Rich sells those NOS 25mm viewfinders cheap, I think they are currently $89. But if you use a 24 or 25mm lens you do need the viewfinder with the brightlines because they help with the parallax close up.
