the fuji 27 on an xe2 is pretty much a perfect street shooting camera kit and i think many here already use it (the 27) with a fuji body...
but that 35 is getting pretty good reviews, seems well priced and while not a pancake is fairly small...many like a 50mm pov for street as well.
anyone thinking of trading their 27 for the new 35 or even adding it to their kit of lenses?

what?
I have the 27 & 35/1.4 but will probably buy the 35/2.0 early next year.
If it works as I hope, I will then sell both the 27 and the 35/1.4.
It's not a very clear cut decision, in my mind.

Just curious, will the 35 F2 focus faster (it's a more modern lens) than the 35 F 1,4 ?

I'll be adding the new 35 at least for a trial.
The 27 is super sharp but really sort of boring.
At this point I prefer the 2/23 in the x100 over mounting the 27mm on the xe1.
It just seems to have more roundness and character in the same way the 1.4/35 does.
I'm hoping the new 2/35 shares that same quality.
It sure is a good value at the asking price!

I'm thinking of buying the 35mm f/2 even though I already have its f/1.4 sibling - that way I can carry my X-T1 slung while cycling and not worry about what my sweat and the English weather will do to it.
It's the lens that has me thinking of going back to having a Fuji again...

the 35/2 will be going for $399. usd...it focuses faster and quieter than the 1.4...it is sharper than the 1.4 at f2 for each lens...i've seen the 1.4 listed at 325 usd, used...today.
and it's wr...
and it's wr...

Unless Fuji lowers its price, the used market won't go any lower than right now. Like Joe pointed out, it sells used for sometimes close to 50% off.

I also have both the 27 and 35 already. I am tempted by the 35f2 for the following reasons..
1. First wr prime - to match up w/ my xt1
2. Faster af motor
But I'm going to wait and c what other wr primes are coming down the road. Their lens lineup is pretty well filled out.. They could do what others have in the past and come either w/ a set of f2 or pancake f2.8 lenses.

If anyone asked me...one should never sell a 1.4/35mm. It's my favorite fuji lens.... I love it wide open.

With the exception of those who require fast AF. It IS one of Fuji's slower focusing lenses.

Like I said. It's not perfect.

Early reports indicate AF is greatly improved. This is consistent with the technical changes in lens design (AF motor speed and what moves and doesn't move inside the lens).

Slowest pre-4.0 firmware. Post 4.0 firmware it's at least as fast as the 27mm.

I never understood these folks who use the word "or" between great prime lenses. How about "the 27 and the 35/1.4 and the 35/2." See what I did there? Problem solved.
But seriously folks, the new 35/2 tests great. Check out Lenstip:

I may get into trouble here, but think of the 35/2 as the "Summicron" and the 35/1.4 as the "Summilux," and I think that answers the question as to why one might want both. The 27 is a fine lens as well, but it lakes the resolution across the frame of the 35/2 wide open and it lacks the character of the 35/1.4 ... they are all tiny and very reasonably priced (on the used market, anyway). If you have an X-Pro - the 27 is wonderful as it doesn't block the finder hardly at all - and it's pretty great right across the frame at F4-F8...
And yes, looks like we are getting an X-Pro2! I wonder if Dante Stella will get back into the X-mount?
