Hi All,

So I'm a big fan of the 28mm focal length, and since the new f2 is a tad rich for my blood (I'd need a viewfinder, so it adds up), I'm looking for a used 3.5 Color Skopar. It seems the discontinued skopar is a tad thin on the ground. I've been looking at the usual used dealers for a few months now without luck.

Today I noticed a reputable dealer has a chrome one for $579. Which got me wondering what these went for new. Does anyone recall? Any feeling for what the typical used price is?

I'm just curious because I had it in my head (for no rational reason really) that this lens would be less expensive than $579 in the used market. Does the chrome add a premium? Or was I just being too optimistic about the price?

Thanks!

Dow

cameraquest sold the last new ones they had for 579...

they are sought after used and the price seems to be going up.

used, I've seen them go for $350-400. I think most high prices you see are the result of optimistic sellers.

Funny how the mind works - 275 new 575 used. Now I don't want one anymore. I just can't bring myself to pay collector prices on lenses - too clumsy and too paranoid.

Frankly they are too expensive now. It was a great lens for $275, or even $350ish. For $600, I think you can get other 28s that are just as good if not better. Look around for a used Zeiss ZM or something.

I bought one on here for $285 with M adapter just a month or two ago. They generally sell for $375-400 on RFF. Believe me, I've had three of them this year. They are worth the $400 and are tiny, tiny, tiny. CQ always jacks up the prices once their stock is down to the last few. There is no premium in the used market for either color...despite what some think... I've bought and sold both colors for similar prices.

Back then USD use to have at least some value.
In 2002 when this particular lens was introduced 1 USD was aprox 33 Czech Crowns, today, in early 2011, 1 USD is aprox 17 Czech Crowns. And that is only currency value, what about price of fuel, energy, brass or other inputs needed in order to produce the lens and transport them and market them worldwide..

There's also the similar size/performance Avenon/Kobalux.
Also hard to find.
But if patient can be had in $300-400 range on eBay.
Generally they ship out of Asia.

these generally seem to go for much more than the cv 28...at least when i was looking for one anyway...
