28mm elmarit III

Can anyone tell me the length and diameter of a third version 28mm elmarit? I want to know if it will intrude on the framelines of an M8.

I can't remember length off hand, but the v. III 28mm's a long lens with 49mm diameter filter and a large hood. I've seen but never used one, and I was surprised how large it was. On the M7, the smaller 28mm/2 Summicron ASPH intrudes into the 28mm frameline corner, the new 28mm/2.8 Elmarit ASPH hardly does without the hood.

The new 28mm/2.8 is very small, very good and so flare resistant that it hardly ever needs the hood except in strong sidelight situations (sun just out of frame for example)

the CV 35/2.5 PII, it's a tiny little thing but it's like my everyday walk around lens because it doesnt get in the way.

Diameter at the front is 51 mm (54 mm including the hood studs). Length is 49.4 mm from flange to front.

With its proper 12536 hood (64.4 mm x 56.8 mm, 74.2 mm accross) length is 65.5 mm from flange to front of hood.

I'm thinking about selling mine...I'm not sure yet though. It work so great with the M8 but I really just use 35 and 50 on my film M's.

I could sell the 28 and get another M6 so I don't have to change lenses...hmm
Or one body for black and white and one for color...hmmm
Or one body for APX100 and the other for TriX
