Was on holiday when I ran out of SD cards. 3 malls and 7 shops later, I was desperate and they only had 2GB micro SD. But, hey it works on my R-D1s!

IMHO, this is probably my only reason to ever get a R-D1x... I don't think 2GB will be around for very long more. I've had similar issue with my 1999 Fuji MX-1700. It uses SmartMedia cards, and although the camera still works, the SmartMedia card is long dead. And I can't get myself to buy US$30 Smartmedia (128MB) cards... for a 1.5mp p&s. Only bonus is, I can use my MX1700 batts on my R-D1s. It's identical.

I got these....

Guess, I'll stockup on 2GB SD Cards... Any idea how long SD cards will keep in storage?

BTW, Phuket is BEAUTIFUL!

Yes, I have some of these (Kingston brand mostly), they work fine in all cameras including the M8 and RD1, but are generally a bit slower than a regular size SD card, though it is probably not noticeable in the RD1 and M8.

As has been said before, the biggest advantage you will gain in using a faster (ex: Sandisk Extreme III) card is in the time it takes to download images from your card to your computer. The slower cards will work fine in your R-D1, although you may notice a slightly slower time between shots if the buffer is full, especially if you are shooting in RAW.
