Hi guys and gals,
I have an older W-Nikkor f1.8 3.5cm Nippon Kogaku.
It brings up 50mm frame lines instead of 35mm on my Leicas (M2 and M7) :(
Can you please tell me how to modify it so that it brings up 35mm frame lines?

I appreciate in advance any recommendations.

Does your lens look like this:

Or does it look like this:

Thanks Brian and Kiu!
My lens looks like the one in the second picture that you posted Kiu.
I saw that thread in the past, but will revisit it again.
If I have to modify it, do you know which knotch and what to do?

Thanks Brian!
I thought it looked like an adapter, but didn't know for sure since I couldn't unscrew it with my hands. What do you recommend for trying to unscrew it. I tried wrapping a soft cloth around the adapter to get a better grip and by applying a lot more pressure to it, but still no luck. The damn thing is stuck. I haven't used any tools yet, since I don't want to damage any parts of the lens.

Leave the lens with adapter mounted on the camera, then just unscrew the lens.

Much easier than trying to get it off with no leverage.

Often these adapters are secured with loc-tite and any try to unscrew it is futile. If the adapter is stuck on the lens, just modify the claw that kicks in the 35 frame lines. It is the same modification, i.e. the same claw, that you can do to the 40mm f1.4 Nokton to get it to show 35 frames on a M.
There was a thread on this in the M group on RFf a while ago. Maybe someone can steer you to the right link? I haven't figured out the subtleties of the RF forum yet!

Yeessss! I was able to unscrew the adapter while having the lens in the camera. It's an old Ernst Leitz Wetzlar adapter for the M2 and M3 cameras for 50mm lenses.
Thanks again guys!
Now I'll be looking for the right one.
