How old the 7200 Plustek scanners are now? Ten years?
I checked local classifieds and get one for 30 CAD ($25) in original box, soft case, CD, etc; in good working order.
Installed driver from provided CD and scanned some imperfect bw negatives, which I have trouble to scan with newer Pacific Image 7200 and some of them ain't so good for darkroom prints.
VueScan was used for control. Minimum editing in old LR version on XP machine. Scanner is fast at 1800-2400 dpi and my XP laptop is fast as well for everything comparing to home PC with x64 Win 7 Home edition on it and more CPU power.

My Pacific Image 7200 scanner would not scan those underexposed negatives like this Plustek 7200 did. PI 7200 is not good with negatives where exposure isn't perfect. My Epson V500 would scan with similar results, but as any flatbed it is limited in sharpness (resolution) on 135 film.

Not so bad for $30 as of now scanner, I guess.

Film is HP5+ @1200 and I was under exposing due to slow lens (25 f4).

Cheers, Ko.

Very acceptable for viewing on the internet. You got a bargain. I use an epson V500 I bought refurbished from Epson a few years ago. it does me well as I don't have $500 or more to spend on a scanner.

Well, that is quite a great bargain. Despite the generations, scanners are more or less the same and it's not the technology itself being a boundary for quality (the Nikons are a testament to that).

Browsed eBay to see what they have and realised that they are now selling a downscaled version of the 120, the Plustek 135. Didn't see that pop anywhere!

As I am in the other side of the pond, those refurbished Epsons are hard to get for that price here. And taking one is not worth it IMO...($100 for the scanner itself +$100 for S&H&Tax ). Might as well get a V550 but mainly for 120.

after some transitional growing pains, I have to say I'm happy with my Nikon 8000.
For the price those cost, you'd better be...

I'm tempted by the automatic film handling of the Reflecta Proscan 10T, but for now, I'm happy with my Plustek 7200i (with a faulty i). Here's a scan:

Canon EOS 1v | Canon 24/2.8 | Fomapan 400

With pictures provided by Helen and Addy I'm convinced to watch for 7200i under 50CAD price! :)
..."Antique" Nikon for >$500, not really...

I got a plustek 7600 Ai for $14 USD at an antiques market. New in its case with everything there, film holders still sealed in it's plastic bag.

I'm happy with it, had a chance to vigorously test and compare it to a friends Coolscan IV. Plustek was much better IMO surprisingly.

My bad, I want to find such things as well. These items aren't common at all and online it's quite hard to get a worthy scanner under the $100 mark.

And coincidently the coolscan I tested, my mate mate got the whole get up for something like $50 some ten years ago in a small town photo store.

I think there may be a pattern here.

I paid $100 for my Plustek 7600ai. Obviously I paid more than some of the terrific bargain hunters that have posted here but I am still quite happy with it.

People only tell you if they've got a good or great deal (US$14,- and 30,- are insane), not if they have a bad deal. I think a US$100,- is fair for a 7200/7600. But if you can find one cheaper, the better for you! And even if you pay a little more, it still is great value. IMHO of course.
