I bought the 30mm lens for the Xpan a few weeks ago.

I do like it but just feel it's almost too wide. Does anyone else feel this way?

I am now thinking about selling it. Oh well.

Whoa stallion.

Give the 30mm some time. Yes, its is very, very wide. So wide that I prefer the 45mm about 60% of the time. But some times, every once in a while, that 30mm does the scene a justice the 45mm couldn't ever hope to emulate.

The 30mm has the ability to truely make the idea of panoramic photography come alive. Give it a chance.......

Too wide, too big, too cumbersome. I sold mine a couple of months after acquiring it too for those reasons. Didn't see any added value over the already excellent 45 and to an extent the 90. Certainly didn't make the xpan look like a walkaround camera, especially with the awkward looking viewfinder.

Hi all. It's strange...after renting a 30mm for a few days, I almost feel like it should have come fixed to the camera as its only lens - mostly because of the added vertical real estate you get with the 30. I suppose it depends on your shooting style - I'm an up-close kind of guy, so I need the extra space - but for a traditional landscape (and many other things) the 45 is great as well. I plan to pick up a 30 within the next six months or so, despite the fact that the price is so ridiculous it must be made of stem cells. Er.

For me, the 30mm just wasn't easy to use. I got so used to using the camera as a point and shoot, that I did not want to have the camera be another tripod camera.

I know the camera with the 30mm can be used as a handheld camera, but for me, it was not.

I have one for sale, unfortunately without a finder it,s the fuji model (TX-1)
If you interested, pls. send me a private message.

I use the 30 the most and the 90 the least... nothing better for a pan. Never used a tripod for any of them. I will sell the whole package if I sell the 30. Not selling yet, though... I have been getting used to carrying the xpan II and its lenses (including the 90, just in case) instead of the CLE and M7 and several lenses... ease of use comes to mind.

Well.. I'm in the market - I'd love to get one. I'm heading back to HK in a month or two, so might get it then.. if I can't organise a second hand one :D

Love mine, really great lens and just about the sharpest ultra-wide ( 17mm on 24x36) that I have ever used. This is a shot on Kodachrome 64, 1/2 a second at F9.0.

Get one while you still can, they are going to get tough to find in the coming years. Also, make sure you get the centre filter, it is just about useless with slide film without it....
