35/1.8 Nikkor on Amedeo M Adapter : Someone Finally Figured It Out

Is it possible to remove the Amadeo adapter and put the lens on a Nikon RF? I have the same modification but no Nikon RF so haven't tried removing it (it doesn't seem to just unclip?)

Dare i ask how much it cost to convert the 35mm?
Also did you have to send the lens to Korea, or does he ship the parts to you for conversion at home?
this is definitely interesting

I would reach out to Gigantoptik directly on the pricing. Yes, you have to send the lens and the adapter to the ROK. If I could do this again, I would have acquired a Coiro adapter for the 35mm instead of sending an Amedeo one, as the shop can further modify the 35 with the Coiro to focus down to 0.7m instead of 0.9m.

@das will the 35/1.8 fit into the Amedeo adapter without this mod? Not mounted on a camera, just curious if the lens fits into the Amedeo.
Yes of course it will. The Amedeo adapter is just more or less a facsimile of the Contax/Nikon mount so every lens should mount.

The only lens which does not mount to my knowledge is the Contax Topogon 25/4 lens as the shape of the retainer clip is different and the thickness of the flange bayonet is also subtly different. It will mount on a Japanese made adapter (Kindai International/Orion) though as that is literally a 1:1 facsimile.

The problem is that the protruding rear shield/bayonet of the lens will hit the rangefinder cam and roller. On cameras without a rangefinder such as the Barnack Leica I or the Zeiss Ikon SW, or the Leica MDa it can be mounted without modification.

I assumed it would fit the adapter for reasons you mention but wanted to get confirmation from someone who has tried it. I’m pretty sure I’ve tried it myself but it was many years ago. 😀

Mine is a Contax Amedeo Adapter but I just re-confirmed for you that yes the Nikkor 35/1.8 fits. No issues that way. Focus works normally too. But of course it should not be put on a rangefindered camera.

Yep, the W-Nikkor fits on the adapter itself. So can be used with the film cameras mentioned above and of course any digital mirrorless with the proper adapters to that mirrorless mount.

Before the era of mirrorless cameras, the Leica to N/C/P mount conversion was popular. However, with the arrival of the EVF rangefinder era, the coupled rangefinder may become irrelevant. No conversion is needed.

I am purchasing just the rear element housing to make my 3.5cm f1.8 work on my m cameras. Hoping to be able to get the work done locally or doing it myself. Crossing my fingers it all works out. I would love to use this lens on my leicas.
