ap 400, AKA tri-x 400, developed in tmax 1+9. r2m. messing around our new river place. the filter seems to punch up the rendering of the lens with a bit more contrast. that is its job, right? i am a filter newbie ...

Great Paul.
I almost always use yellow on B+W these days. Makes the skies more natural (best seen in your pic #3, IMO). Great for portraits, too, women love it ....

Yep. I always use a yellow filter when shooting B&W film.

thanks, Roland, Pickett.
with the yellow filter, the 35/2.5 seems to have about the same contrast as the naked 50/2.5 protected by a nikon neutral clear filter.
i base that on two rolls of film ...

I like a yellow green (X0 or 060/11) filter even better.
Benefits sky, skintones and foliage.

Very nice, Paul. I use a yellow filter on my Skopar 50.

Interesting, Paul. I've always heard that the 35 Skopar is pretty contrasty on it's own, but it seems to benefit from the yellow filter.
Great light on #3.

thanks, tom. it could just be my exposures, considering i run the r2m naked of meter batteries. but it does have - without the filter - a little bit smoother look.
with color film, it is, indeed, plenty contrasty, a match for its 50/2.5 brother.

What filter size fits on the cv 35/2.5? I know I can probably look on my instructions but too lazy to dig the box out of the drawers. I'm new to filters & wonder what other filters would benefit from B&W film.

39mm, but personally the skopar 35/2.5 would not be my first choice lens to require increased contrast ..

Yeah, nice shots Paul, although with the 35/2.5 and a yellow filter, I would have expected more contrast. I assume you used a #8 yellow filter (light yellow)?

yes. it was a low contrast day with almost flat lighting. i thought the light yellow would help a bit with cloud definition ...
