Do the numbers on your aperture ring line up directly under the white line or are they a little bit off-center. Mine are a little bit off-center to the left, and I was wondering if that is normal.

The 4th type 35 'cron has a glued front section. This can come loose and cause the problem you describe. It's repair time I'm afraid.

Hmm. I just got it though, is it really supposed to line up exactly?

Just had mine done during a CLA, the hood sat at a skew angle that vignetted in the corners. Aperrently it is an easy fix for a tech. Good luck Andrew.

I have that with several old lenses. No issue so far as I use the aperture ring without looking at it. Start wide open and count the clicks. And the 35 asph Lux sample I have offers a hair of a space left of the f1.4 click, making it a f1.37 when comparing the exif data. Probably the fastest Summilux of the world.

Yup, glue, in a $2,000 lens. I had one and it was repaired for $25.

I had stuck aperture blades in a 75 Summilux after it has dropped from the middle console in my car while I drove a tough curve. This lens is completely glued together, the repair was about 25x more than you paid.
