35/2...what a sweet lens

I sent my 35mm f2 back to the shop.

My copy of the 35mm f1.4 is way better performer.

The points for the 35mm f2:

1. Inner fokus
2. Silent. It "sounds" quicker, but I think its only 10% better AF performance
3. A bit more wide. Around 3-5mm than the 35/1.4
4. Weather resistance


The points for the 35mm f1.4:

1. f1.4 - f1.8
2. A little more nice Bokeh on f2
3. From the middle better performance and in the corners the clear winner. Also on f4 the lens is more detailed an crisper.

Thanks for posting the sample photos in the link. Much appreciated. Not that it amounts to much in my opinion but I notice, in the two images of the hotel (?) with the flower boxes, that the 35/1.4 shows a bit more distortion than the 35/2 (look at the horizontal line across the top part of the images). And in the two images of the iron fence, assuming you were carefully focusing on the acorn piece in the center, the 35/2 'acorn' is sharper or has more contrast.

How did you measure this?

Focussing on two targets in twenty seconds and counting the pics.
Its not a measurement, thats why I wrote "think".

Look at the Fuji MTF curves. The 15-er and the 45-er- are more near to each other as it is with the 1.4/35mm; and the 45er is nearer the 1. So the f2 should be more contrasty, if I understand the right way.

But, nothing you cant fix in post production Lightroom.

It's compact, it's weather-sealed, it offers autofocus, and it'll make my X-T1 an all-weather go-anywhere camera without my having to carry it in a bag or pouch.

Old school design, solid metal feel, beautifully damped controls, and fast autofocus.

Well that's a perfect exposure!

I too find this lens handles slightly overexposed windows quite well. And I certainly don't miss the clunky 35/1.4 AF mechanism.
