Ok, I have the Zeiss 35f2.8 C Biogon and the first version of the 35f1.2 Nokton. The C Biogon may be my favorite lens, especially for travel due to sharpness, size, cost and 3d pop. I bought the 35f1.2 for available darkness photography only to discover I don't do available darkness photography.

I really do not want to own three 35mm lenses. So, sell/trade current 35's for 35f2 APO? Or keep present lenses and pick up the new 28 coming at the end of the month since I do not presently own a 28?

The problem I forsee is that the apo 35 is about the size of the f1.2 nokton, so you'd lose the size advantage of the c-biogon. Perhaps the Ultron 35mm f2 would be a good compromise if you want to consolidate your 35s?

I see what Gavin is saying....if we're talking about the CV 35-apo. I would note that the Leica 35apo is very lovely compact and ergonomic. I'd love to have one. The price tag is a hindrance.

The APO and Biogon C will give you a modern, super-sharp image with the former displaying somewhat higher resolution and color correction. The Biogon C is already so good that it's unclear that on anything but a 40MP sensor you'll notice much meaningful difference. True, you gain a stop but you lose in the ergonomics of a larger and heavier lens.

The f/1.2, on the other hand gives you a look and speed the others can't.

I'd sell the 35 f/1.2 if you don't use it and just have one 35mm lens. No need for 28mm if you don't need 28mm.
It all sounds like a classic gas shuffle, piling up lenses like chips to make a play. :)

Buy it and see how you like it before making any decisions. I have more than one lens for each focal length each with it own reason for being. Do post some photos with it when you get it!

Am pretty sure I will keep what I have. Epic road trip next week riding a motorcycle from Chicago to LA via Route 66. Traveling with a Leica and 35/90.

Why does the op want to get the apo over the other two? The biogon seems to give the 3d look and compactness the op desires, so how much more will the apo add? 5-10% more acuity but sacrificing compactness in travel??

Id suggest the op try out before fully committing. The op will be sacrificing versatility with two lenses to one lens. Character and compactness vs a bump in acuity.

But if the op really wants only 1-2 35s then i would suggest to sell the biogon to pay for the apo since the apo will do what the biogon would do except marginally better overall but at the cost of size. A little trade off to fuel the gas

I own an M2 and an M4 in film and a MP240 in digital (and a IIIf but that is not going). Honestly, I have not decided between the convenience of digital and the fun of film. And a FujiX100F is another consideration. A film body and the I phone?

Sounds like the Biogon C + one or two B&W contrast filters + iPhone 12 Pro is the lightest kit possible for your Grand Tour.

Love the C Biogon. I ended up in a slightly different spot using the Voigtlander 35/1.7 VM ASPH (lovely rendering, not tooooo big, a bit faster for available light on pushed Tri-x). But I often dream of getting another C Biogon.

I would sell the Nokton for sure, and if F/2 will be needed at times, then either get a Summicron or else the 35/2 Zeiss. I wouldn't sell the Biogon, because it does what you want most of the time. I would think carefully about whether you really need an APO. The Biogon is already excellent, and the slight resolution advantage of an APO might not even be visible in handheld shooting, where camera shake might take the edge off the sharpness.
