Hi Mark,

Hey Tom
nono thats not what i mean
i am saying that it seems (and i dont know coz i dont follow) that the version1 can command prices that high. I was asking if this was true

there is a guy who wants to sell a version 1 CLA for 1300usd
if you want, you can send me your email through pm.

The 4th is best for its boke - well known fact. The first version (8 ele) is sought after by B&W shooters. The 3rd version is great on boke and sells at discounted $ compared to the others probably because of its Canadian birthplace.

Unfortunately I don't have comparison pix anymore so can't post any. I own a v3 and have compared it to v4 and cron asph. I also owned a summilux asph for a while. I kept the v3. The lens is sharp with really good transition to OOF. Its slightly lower contrast at 2 and 2.8 than v4 but is slightly sharper in the centre and less sharp at the edges but not so you'd notice unless you were looking . Stopped down its really good- I've had 20x30s made from it which look great. Its a bit bigger than v4 so for me handles better and the focussing tab is just right. It was meant to have an 'optical mirror' design in the mount that lessened the need for a hood, and I often use it without with no problem. It and the 50 dual range summicron are my favorite lenses. The cron asph had worse drawing for me and a harsher rendition .
