Leave away contrast and flare, *sharpness* of the 3.5/35mm isn't so bad after all, the text on the boxes are quite good readable, as far as I'm concerned. The 2.8/35 (first CANON Gaussian wide-angle) is a bit better in contrast. The faster lenses have more contrast wide-open but a bit "dizzy"... what would you say?

blurred outlines. Visible at hard edges, i.e at letters, twigs,...
That's why I don't use my 2/35 outside at f/4 or faster normally.
