It is interesting that one of the past postings in this thread mentions a market value of $200-$400 for the two Summarons (in 2006) ! The prices have changed.

....35mm Summarons for M3's are a bargain on epay.....($200-$400).
- - - post from just a few years ago.

There's one right now on "epay" for 1 dollar short of $2,000. Non-goggled.
But not gold-plated! :p

For long years I have used both versions however the f2.8 is superior in all regards; especially the mid-portion is sharper than all Summicrons I have used.

The 2.8 usually cost twice what the 3.5 costs. That said, Red Dot in London currently has a goggled 2.8 for £449 which is a good deal imho.

Very good lens. Renders BW especially nice.

Use 35/3.5 sell today at ebay for $325 and up. There is a 35/2.8 non-goggled and one goggled for $999 or "best offer". Some 35/2.8 have an asking price of $1595.

I traded my BGN DR 50 'cton for a 2.8 exc and I've never been sorry. Looks like 35mm is my happy place, and my summaron is perfect for my style of shooting. Thinking of having it welded onto thed M3.

I have two 35mm Summicron V1 lenses (one with goggles and one without goggles), and one 35/3.5 Summaron, but I do not own a 35/2.8 Summaron yet. I have used one though. Someone nice sold me the Cron without goggles for $100. Now that was a nice thing to do.

I agree, Erik. I have one for my Contax IIIa, making the Contax a very nice backup kit for me with that and the Carl Zeiss Sonnar 1.5/50. Fine pictures, BTW.

Say ahhh!

Say ahhh!

I'm always amazed by the Summaron and I like the 50mm window that the goggles offe... feels very nice to compose with so much space around the frame.
