35mm !.2 Nokton VS. 50mm Noctilux. Which is sharper wide open?

Which lens is sharper wide open, the 35mm Nokton or the 50mm Noctilux?

Nokton 35/1.2.

But Noctilux is much more elegant wide open.

Anecdotally, having used both but not directly compared them side by side, the 35 Nokton. But absolute resolution is of limited relevance unless you are shooting with the camera bolted to a big, heavy tripod. I prefer the look of the Noctilux.

The old 50/1? the 50/1.2?the last 50/1 with built in hood? or the newer 50/0.95?😀😀

Well, The last one woulld be nice, although if I could find an earlier one cheaper, I may consider it. I guess I want to know what I would be happier with in low light. Something is telling me the Nokton may be the best buy but, and would have better focusing accuracy.

My 0.02:

Most of the time, when f1.2 is still not enough (using ISO100 film in dim light + indoor), f1 is not significantly better. Yet when you got a blurry Noctilux shot, it's beautiful; when you got a blurry Notkon 35/1.2 shot, it's more likely a failure. (No sarcasm intended.)

I think when shooting handlheld wide open in poor light there are too many variables to really judge critical sharpness. Looking at my 16" x 20" prints i'd say the 50 Noctilux was sharper but then i did have it calibrated with a 0.85 M6TTL which i bought at the same time and i was using the 1.25 magnifier. I've since sold both as the weight and heavy vignetting outweighed, the drawn painterly effects, when used wide open - i now prefer the look of the 50/1.4 which is lighter. I have the 35/1.2, though i'm not as enamoured by it as many people seem to be - i always end up reverting to a 35/2 for size and speed. I've yet to see what the 35/1.2 looks like on the M8.2 with its crop factor and i might like this lens a bit more......
