CCCP meets SP!

I recently did a modest trade with Brian Sweeney, and when the dust settled, I found myself in posession of a very nice black-barrel USSR 35mm f/2.8 Jupiter-12 lens with an 87XXXX serial number.

I immediately put it on my SP (which does all my black-and-white work) and took a few pictures. It lived up to its reputation. Here are a couple of examples. both wide open.

It won't replace my 35 f/1.8, but it's an awfully light, compact carry-around lens.

Looks Good! And I'm going to have to get another one... I love filing Jupiter lenses to fit on Nikons! The locking tab on the Helios-103 is filed down and ready to take the J-12's place on the S2.

My experience with the J12 and a J8 on both an SP and an S2 has similarly been good. No filing required. Dave

The J12 is really a very good lens. The Russians grabbed something good to begin with and couldn't do too much damage to it. I've loved it in both LTM and Keiv mount. Just wish the rear was enough smaller to use it on a CL... :D

I really liked the combination on an S2- my Jupiter was greased well enough to turn with the focusing dial.

Nice, sharp, bright, and flare-y in tough circumstances, but still a Good One.
