35mm Summilux with M240

These are my first trials with the pre-asph Summilux 35mm and the borrowed M240.

I should rotate and crop! The M240 is still new territory for me. Never saw such a spirit level button. I did not think that the tilt was so significant.
 
I'd be very interested in your thoughts about it vs. your M9. There's no real way to tell by looking at pix on a website.

Raid, I always have these problems myself too. I can't get it why the camera manufacturers do not make a spirit level in the viewfinder. Only super wide cameras have this. 50mm and 35mm need one too is my opinion.

For me it is the challenge to "see" the horizon and not the edge of the water. It can be misleading. I view the scene as beautiful and then I change my mind when I see the image on the monitor! The SWC has a level viewer and my superwide Graflex has a level glued on by me. The cheap Olympus E-PL1 has as an option a grid that I use for this purpose too.

I still miss my M9 (in repair). I find the colors more to my likings in the M9. It feels lighter and slimmer in my hand, but I could be imagining it. The M240 has a larger battery, and it allows quick back to back shots, which is impossible most of the time with the M9. The M240 is a great camera. I will not put down such a camera. The M9 feels in comparison like a manual basic camera. Both have their uses. LiveView in the M240 allows easier focusing with ultra-fast lenses wide open. The image files are larger in the M240.

Getting the M10 may be to solution!
 
It's odd that the M series cameras are the only ones I can hold level. I always need to rotate images from SLRs no matter how much care I've taken in holding the camera level. It's just my eyes I guess.

It almost always is the eyes of the photographer and not the camera that causes the tilt.

There is a spirit level in the M240. Two dimensions of leveling.
Just frame the shot in the live view mode, then hit the "info" button one time.
The level is superimposed on the frame. Easy and convenient!
 
I avoided using Live View when I took these photos. I prefer the RF experience.
Thanks for the reminder. I felt more at ease with using my M8 and M9 cameras. The M240 feels like holding a brick. It may be just new to me.

I'm better with the Rangefinder cameras that I have than I am with the DSLR or the Fuji using the EVF. I have a 2+ degree tilt in my back that seems to show up on my pictures when I don't pay good attention. I think the frame lines in the RF cameras help keep us on the level.

From what I've read, you are right about the size. I've not held one so I don't know what that effect would be to the feel of the camera. I'm in love with the crispness I see from the CCD sensor in the M9. I don't see that in the 240 or the M10 shots I've seen. That said, the only ones I've seen are on the web and are certainly not as good as an OOC file. I just spent my life savings on an Epson R-D1x so it will be a bit before I get either the M(240) or a Q. I notice that they still haven't put a sensor cleaning function in either the 240 or even the M10. Sheesh!
 
I agree with you. I pointed the lens directly at the bright sunset with the beach being in the shade. I did not adjust the exposure.

I noticed in all images from the M240 that there was a mark on each image and it looks like a small hair from my arms somehow made it to the sensor! I may have happened as I changed lenses that day at home. Yesterday, I used a rocket blower to get it out, and it does not seem to show anymore in the new images.
 
The "enhance spots" function in Lightroom has become my best friend. One of the reasons I am considering a Q. Even so, I have a spot on my X100 so fixed lens isn't bullet proof.
