Is anybody excited about the 3D cameras coming to the market? Sony is spending a lot for 3D - R/D in TV and cameras. I personally like 3D, I think it is just another fun way to enjoy digital imaging. Digital pictures have evolved to the point where nobody can tell what is real and what isn’t anymore. Therefore I say, bring on more digital toys.

I'm not sure what to make of 3d digital photography yet. I know the technology has been around, and last year the number of 3d films proves its on its way. but with photographs, i think its too early to say.
i know panasonic have created a 3d lens for their micro 4/3 system. this instantly opened up a possibility of creating 3d movies. which takes things to a new level completely! but unfortunately, its only for stills.
i think in video games, 3d could be an awesome concept. we'll have to wait and see though. the only strange thing, is that 3d has been around for a long time, and i'm not sure if the 'people' really want more of it, or if manufacturers are forcing their way to create a new market.

Some 3D video gives you a choice between headaches and seasickness, and some gives you both at once. Still 3D is great if you like cardboard cutouts. There was more than enough of all of it at photokina.
EDIT: Come to think of it, 3D video looks like cardboard cutouts too -- except that they're animated. Maybe some people's brains process the information differently, so it looks more reaistic, but once you're past the novelty value (and 40 years ago I had a stereo attachment for my Leica), it all seems a bit pointless to me.
Cheers,
R.

3D will be mainstream when, it can be viewed without glasses. Fuji has that technology now. Their 3D / W3 has 2 lens and 2 sensors, no glasses needed pretty cool.
