It does not seem like less than a month , that I received my Leica Digilux 3 and spare '' L 1 '' body , to complement my M 8 .

No more toys now - spending spree over.

I was apprehensive about buying an outdated model , with a dubious smaller sensor , and bigger than most Coanons and Nikons , but I am dee-lighted .

The M 8 was the only Digital camera that I could connect to - and the new '' twins '' simply seem to extend that rare relationship , with similar familiar controls .

I am aware that the Dig 3 is simply a cosmetic pretence of the M 8 , but I don't care - the illusion is enough for me to extend the M 8 attachment .

Not only that , I can in the future , add what is virtually a compact pocket camera - Olympus E420 with 25mm pancake lense , which is fully compatible with my '' Leica '' likes ''.

This is a really wierd conversion to me , I no longer worry about the ultimate resolution , or what's coming next - the '' L1 / Dig 3 twins '' are unique in that there will be no more '' analogue '' interface digi-boxes - ever , so it's like case closed - a kind of completion for me .

But , then ASdee is seriously restricting , so it's essential to work within those constraints , or face a cloud of anxiety .

Hey, I'm right there with you. I just purchased an L1 with the Leica zoom about a month ago and I love it. I too, am planning on getting the Olympus 420 with the pancake lens. It should make an excellent street shooter.

I am in the process of selling ALL of my pro Nikon gear. All my friends are laughing at me, but I don't care. I figure I will have the last laugh in the end.

Hey Dee, we may be the only two on here, but at least we have each other.

I purchased the L1 on a whim and just fell in love with the camera. When I decided to get out of the photo biz after 35 years, I thought, hell, why not just chuck it all and go in a different direction.

I started selling all my Nikon gear- and I had a LOT of pro bodies, lenses, flashes, etc. I thought my wife was going to faint when I told her of my plan and like I said before, all my friends started laughing at me and wondering about my mental health- the *******s. :)

We will have the last laugh, my friend, trust me- I hope.....

haha, Dee, I see absolutely no irony in your purchases! Just enjoy your photography and leave the pixel-wanking to people who have nothing better to do!

As for me, my gear ranges from my delightful 2mp blackberry to my 8x10 cambo. Now all I need to do is figure out a way to use my blackberry as a stitching back for my cambo

I'm kind of kicking myself that I didn't snag one when they were $799. Oh well ... you snooze, you lose.

I think there are a few more L1 users around here ... it's a dead sexy camera, and the files seem to be pretty good. Now stick the new Zuiko 25 pancake on it and .... :D

Yep, that is when I got mine, when they had them on sale at Amazon.

Trius, I think you are right. I know AndyK shoots one and I believe there are a few others.

In case anyone has not heard, you can order the Olympus 25 pancake lens from Amazon right now for 249.00. They will not be delivered until sometime mid-May.

I went cheap and got a Samsung GX-1s around the time the L1 was $799. I only spent $350, so even if I use it for only a year I'll do OK.

The new e-420 does look pretty cool though.
