So after 2 years, I get my CL back fully restored to Like New condition. I mount my very nice copy of the 40 summicron and order a leica series 5.5 orange filter. The problem is, I cannot get the darn rubber hood to unscrew so I can put the filter underneath (my understanding is the 5.5 filter drops in the back of the hood, you screw the hood onto the lens as a hood/filter combo). Any tips for getting the hood off?

Pinch the filter ring with your index finger and thumb...start to turn the filter with just the 2 pinching fingers, stay as inline with the fillter as possible.
If your fingers don’t work and you are handy & brave use a pair of needle nose plyers.
Filter is the ring part that screws onto the threads

Thank you. I have tried the finger method but not with pliers.
