40mm f1.4 MC vs 50mm f2

I own both and I actually find the 40mm wide open (f1.4) to be sharper than the 50mm at f2. I still love them both.😱

I've got both but haven't really compared the two beside each other. Even with the 40 I rarely shoot at 1.4 because I'm too much of a goof when it comes to focusing.

One thing I think I've observed -- which could be influenced by the fact that my CV 50/2 is newer -- is that the 50 has a nicer, slightly smoother rendition. Things seem ever so slightly more 3D. I'm rather liking it so far. I'm not getting rid of the 40, though.
