40mm framelines with a 35mm Summicron.

File down the appropiate lug

I warn you 35 lines are too big in close range, more correct at distance. 50 lines are closer to correct in close range. You can`t win and the lens is changed forever.

Well actually there is no way to show the 40mm framelines instead of the 28mm. This is because the 28mm framelines are always visible. Filing down a lug is not correct, in this instance it needs one of its lugs to be longer not shorter. However to have the 40mm framelines appear as well as the 28's (which are always visible) hold the lens release button down and turn the lens very slightly past its lock point and you will see the 40mm framelines pop up. This procedure is safe and doesnt damage anything. Even though the lens is not locked into place there is enough friction to let it remain firmly mounted. Even if the lens is accidentally rotated off the lens lock engages into the groove locking the lens onto the camera as per normal. Remember though only very slightly turn past the lock position till you see the 40mm framelines appear.

Paleoboy is right, don't file the lugs! Ronald M is actually talking about using the 40mm lens on a Leica and bringing up the 35mm frame lines on the Leica.

i assume because the camera wants a longer lug for the 40mm and an even longer one for the 90mm. so for this reason, as long as i am careful, i am not damaging anything. makes sense. and it works. thanks again.

Hi, recently i got a biogon 35/2, put it on the cle and showed only 28 mm fl, nevertheless i moved the lens a little bit pressing the release button and the camera showed the 40 mm lines.
Perhaps it´s because some cam difference tween leica and zeiss or it´s pure trick.

bye.
