All the Summicrons are German, only the Rokkors are made in Japan

I see them as low as €250-350 on German eBay.
Cheapest CLs with the '40 go for just under €400.

I remember when they sat at $250 USD for years, I guess those prices are long gone when the word got out what a good lens it was.

Everyone put the word out how good and what great value they were and then the price doubled.

User Cron 40 usually end up at $350-400 around the cost of a Nokton 40/1.4 which can be argued is almost equal in quality.
if you find it for $450-550 then it better be mint with hood and caps, and perfect.

There are quite a few on the bay at the moment for up to $700 amazing! You can still get the Rokkors around the 400 mark though

Mint go for a lot more than that. Usually $600+
Highest price I've seen was $820 ea. for 2 Rokkor 40 mm models NOS. Summicron hasn't sold for more than that yet

That is funny that some people see the Summicrons go for more than the Rokkors. The highest prices I see are for the CLE version of the Rokkor 40mm, and rightly so, its arguably the better of the 3, the same optics, with better coatings and RF Cam.
... If you look at sold auctions on ebay, on average the CLE version sells for the most, then the Summicron, then the reg. Rokkor.

Thought I'd put an update here and see what RFF thinks of my latest purchase. Today I bought a CL and Summicron (40mm) for $500. Local seller, nice guy. Camera has a little ding on the top plate but meter works and came with the rubber hood and original leather case. Will post images to glamour shots thread in a few days. Excited to run some film through my new toy!

Thats a pretty good price. A 40mm Summicron can sometimes fetch that on their own. Meter working is another bonus as they more often than not arent. The metal top covers are a bit thin so they do dent very easily but the price more than compensates for that. Best all round value lens with the Leica name on it. Enjoy.

That's what I thought and why I bought the combo. I don't have huge hands but they are more bricklayer than pianist hands. So the CL and 40-C both seem a little small. This may be a catch and release for me. But I look forward to taking photos for a couple months at least.
