any hitting of the roller cam? i thought that was the big fear.

Nope - I looked through the VF while I was mounting it and saw no movement of the image till it hit the lens focusing sleeve.

A recent LFI spke of a wedding photog who uses the 50/2.8 on his M8. I've not tried it yet, but only because I don't often use a 50 on the M8...
