Hi

I'm looking for a couple of lenses to start of an M line up. Thinking of going for an M2.

I've spotted a secondhand 50 f2 summicron, dated 1970. Can anyone tell me how it compares to the newer models?? I haven't seen many images on the net, but maybe I'm not looking in the right places. 🙄

Can anyone tell me if I would be able to mount a Contax Zeiss 50 1.7 on the M2 with an adapter?

info at: www.cameraquest.com look under camera profiles "M lens guide" or www.kbcameras.com for differences in various versions.

All cron 50s are good, from collapsible to modern(hooded). The only difference is in progressively higher contrast levels from older to new lenses. I don't know which specific lens you are refering to, but once you determine which it is, you can search for it in RFF gallery, flickr.com, or pbase.com under: 50mm, rigid, DR, summicron 50/2, any of those combinations will get you the sample images.

good luck 🙂 you really can't lose with a summicron if the price is right
