Not sure what auction site you use, but do NOT give her your member name (unless she asks for it 3 different times, at which point you kinda have to). While you are talking 35mm now, you'll start having 50mm lenses whisper in your ear, followed by 90s..........

Not only 35mm lenses, but 35mm format. You NEED medium format, to try 120film folders, TLR's, SLR's... then you NEED to try large format field/monorail cameras, 4x5, 5x7, 10x8

Two good things in my opinion, oh well..
One good place to find leica lens, at least in London is Aperture. all used, very good condtion, next to Tot Court Road tube station, super friendly staff.

I bought my Leica gear from them ( and few other DSLR stuff ) always nice, never had a problem ( well tbh had a focusing problem once in a Nikkor 17.35 2.8 but they sent to nikon at their expense. super )
And how to tell gf ? Usually when I buy camera stuff i just take her few pictures, spend some hours retouching the picture so it seems shes the next diva on earth and show to her saying "hey honey, look, straight out of the camera, what you think ? by the way, i got a nice reservation on that posh restaurant just for you " usually works. Offereing a gift is a bad choice ( been there done that ) cause the first 5m of hapinness are changed with 20years of price comparing "oh your leica costed 2000 pounds, im sure that this ring wasnt THAT expensive". Just a heads up

I'm now more worried that my girlfriend will see this thread somehow, I've made her out to be a devilwoman ( well partly she is but in a good way and I just won't 'go there' right now!)
Proenca thanks for the info re; ApertureUk. I've got a whole load of suggestions for decent places to buy Leica kit from - all of which will be visited at some point.
Ash - I've done the large format and medium format in the past but realised that I'm just not that kind of photographer, I like to move around too much, plus when I'm paid to hump around a whole load of kit all day the last thing I want to do is schlepp round with even more when I have time off - my backs twisted and contorted as it is!!
I should have my new little baby within four or five days, I'm probably even going to post a pic of it when I get it which I never do - never into camera porn before but then I never had such a 'fit' camera before!
