50 Summicron DR with Ikon?

Is it possible to use the 50mm Summicron Dual-Range on the Zeiss Ikon? With or without the goggles? First post BTW, I just picked up a ZI and am looking for a classic, older 50mm lens. I'm borrowing a current-gen Summicron and would prefer the closer focus of the DR if possible.

Welcome! And I believe the DR should work just fine on the ZI, but the goggles won't line up with the RF or viewfinder windows, so that close coupled focusing is not available.

Hmm, more problems. The one I bought (KEH, sight unseen of course, no one has such things for sale around here) doesn't focus to infinity on my ZI. Seems like the rear shroud interferes with the cam follower at the 10m position. Won't mount when focused to infinity either. Seems to work great at all other positions. The lens has clean glass, very little haze, so otherwise I'm very happy. However it's no beauty queen, engraved with no eyes. So if the solution involves a Dremel I'm all ears...

FYI this seems a lot like the CV 35/1.2 issue mentioned on the front page of cameraquest.com....

Well I guess I'm just talking to myself here, but might as well log my experience for the web searches and archives. The interference comes between the rear shroud on the DR and a boss in the lower portion of the shutter box. The fragile cam follower is not affected at all. Shaving half a millimeter off the rear shroud will fix it. I'll be doing just that on the endmill after work today.

I have a 'cron DR on my M3 and I love it. It would be great to see a picture of your set up....

taking off 0.050" did the trick. If you have to eyeball it, just remove the close range cam until it's just above the rear mounting flange at infinity. be sure to bevel the outside edge with a file, it's a very close fit there and any flash may scrape the interior of a small recess on the ZI.
