I am thinking of buying a new camera body with 1,5/50 lens.
(a) How can I tell if the lens is the "2,8" or "1,5" optimized version before I buy it, perhaps by its serial number?
(b) Is there a Service Manual for the camera body I can download or buy?

Hi VMK,

My suggestion is: ask Mfogiel
if I'm not wrong he should be able to answer you, he did some kind of comparative tests between these lenses time ago

You can't, except by buying new from a reputable dealer or second-hand from an even more honest dealer/private individual. There is no reliable serial number correllation that I am aware of. There are three cams and any can be selected during assembly or repair.

Which body do you want a manual for? And why? What do you need to know? (Someone here should be able to help you.)

Cheers,

R.

Might be me .... but i still have not figured out what my sonnar is optimized for (did no formal tests though!).
If i had not read on this forum about the focusshift i would not be aware it exists.
Either the whole issue is blown out of proportion or i have an extraordinary copy.
I do not think about it in day to day use.

Fabulous lens BTW!
