50mm Lens Point and Shoots?

So, I love my Yashica T4. Stunning lens, simple camera. I've used it a few times on some "model" shoots and have been pleased with the results.

Question is...is there a point and shoot camera out there like this with a 50mm lens (ish) instead of 35mm? I often would like to have a 50mm perspective when doing these shoots.

So...anything out there that's worth of being compared to the T4, but with a 50mm lens?

I'm not aware of film P&S cameras with fixed FL 50mm lens. There are short zooms, though, ending at 40-45-50mm, like Fuji Tiara Zoom and Fuji Silvi.

From digital P&S compacts I have little Ricoh with fixed focus and 48mm lens, but it infamously died.

there are a few point and shoots with ~40mm lenses: minilux, contax t2, klasse s, perhaps others...but it's pretty close to 35mm.

I see your problem. At the moment my solution for compact P&S around 50mm is still a digital compact with (equiv.) 24-70mm zoom Pana DMC-FX30). But this is not film!

When I went back to film, my first RF was the Ricoh GX500. The 40mm/F2.8 is ok for street or holiday images. But it is definitly not the FOV you look for in model shooting.

Exactly for the same reason, I will go next two ways:
1) add a 50mm collapsible to my Hexar RF, like a CV Heliar
2) add a 50mm lens Werra only for portrait/model shooting. I will give it a try

The 1st makes the full size RF Hexar a little more "compact". The second one is a "clean design" dream of a camera body. In my opinion 🙄

Maybe some of these thoughts help you to find your solution too...

If you want a film point & shoot with a 50mm FL then a zoom lens is the only option, unfortunately. You could always get a fixed lens RF that had a 50mm lens like the Ricoh 35S or one of the many cameras that came out of Japan during the late 50's-early 60's. If small and pocketable is what you're looking for then you can't go wrong with a Barnack and hang a 50/2.8 Elmar on the front. I know that's off topic but I'm just thinking of very small but very capable cameras.

I would personally go for any small reflex+50mm
Maybe a Nikon EM + 50 serie E ?
It's a "point, focus and shoot"

Canon AF35ML 40mm, f1.9. That is the closest thing I know about.

I do almost all of my shots vertically with my P&S because 35mm is not my favorite.

I was looking for one myself for quite a while because I LOVE 50mm and the concept 50mm point and shoot. Didn't find any. There are some 38mm and 40mm P&S out there, but not 50mm.

My solution: Barnack Leica (possibly CL) + 50mm.

Point and shoot size with none of that modern automation nonsense.
Looks just like a certain $2.8 milion camera.

Might be the best idea. To have some P&S ability left, any 50mm lens would do since you would have to select 5.6 and up anyway to get enough DOF for it to be P&S-y.

The tiny Canon LTM 50/2.8 'zebra' comes to mind, it's so small it takes 34mm filters. Or maybe a Color-Skopar 50/2.5 on a Leica CL or Minolta CLE.

Minolta Freedom Dual 60, or Minolta AF Tele, or Leica AF-C1. Canon Sure Shot 60. Or any number of other dual focal-length compacts with the long end from 55~60mm.

You could go with one of the 45mm Canonets to get close. Either f/1.7 or f/1.9. Not technically a p&s but you could conveniently "forget" that it has a rangefinder. 🙂

How about a Contax G and 50mm? It's not a point and shoot, but it's got autofocus and AE, so you could pretend it was.

I second the idea of a Contax G w/ a Planar 45mm lens. Quirky cameras, but basically P&S, w/ the added bonus of interchangeable lenses. Wonderful glass.
