I've noticed in another thread that a few people have picked up the 50mm ASPH 'Lux. I'd love to see some of your pics that display the prominent qualities of this lense. Also, if you guys have some real-world reviews/thoughts on the lense I'd love to hear them. There is roughly a $2k difference between the 50mm ASPH Lux and the 50mm f1.5 Nokton and I'm wondering if you can really see a difference in the "real world". I know what MTF charts, Erwin Puts, and others say, but what is your take on the lense? Is it worth the $$?

Thanks!

It's one of the finest lens there is. You can shoot at 1.4 without worrying about sharpness, picture quality etc. Is it worth the $2K difference? Well, it depends on how often you would shoot at 1.4. If not, then a Summicron is better at 1/3 the price.

I added a gallery of shots from the 50mm 1.4 ASPH. I think it is an amazing lens. I don't know if the quality comes through in scaled down jpeg files. There are a few 100% crops in the gallery, one is the statue of William Seward. I find the detail and quality of that image to be stunning when I look at it on my monitor.

I am a new R-D1 camera owner and the first and only lens I have is this wonderful 50mm lens. I am astounded at the quality. I have and still use the best of Nikon DSLRs with their top of the line Nikon glass and they do not have the resolving power of this 50mm lens. It works well on my camera and focuses with ease. The control rinds are all silky smooooth!

It will be hard to beat and takes some outstanding portraits! :)
