50mm Zeiss Sonnar in ltm - converted from Contax mount

They look basically the same, w/the exception of some typography.

Could you post a pic of your lens?

Easy, the barrel markings (again, typography) show that it was made in Soviet-occupied Germany, as opposed to the Jupiter barrels, which were made in Ukraine.

Edit: I should have written "circa 1945" as all these dates are approximate. However, there's other information that I have, e.g., it came w/a IIIc body that was purchased in Germany by a U.S. soldier in that time period (estate sale --> eBay).

How can you tell that the lens was converted in 1945?
Cool.

Here's one of Brian Sweeney's conversions on a ZM body: uncoated 1938 5cm f1.5, Contax to Jupiter to LTM and finally to M conversion:

It's optimized to be beautifully sharp at wide open. It's a bit off at greater distances, but at f8 it's OK. Some barrel distorition, but this isn't a problem now that we have the modern convenience of PS!

Guess I really should start offering the optimization of the early Jupiters as a service... It's fun to do and I think people still want them... Lets have a look around to see what early lenses I can buy and convert!

Better create a web page for it😎
