I like this lens a lot, and it gives great results even with apparently a lot of haze on the back of the front element. Much as I would like to try and clean it myself, the number of admonitions I've seen to leave it alone have convinced me to send it to DAG, Focal Point or some other qualified person.

I was wondering, though, whether there's a way to eliminate the play I experience in the lens -- the front of the lens has slight rotational (and front and back) play relative to the lens barrel. I can't see any way to tighten it -- no screws of any sort I can see that could be tightened. Any advice would be most appreciated.

If you're going to send it off to DAG, then tell him about the play, and it should be fine when you get it back.

Whomever you send it to going to open it up anyway to do a full service, so why not let the experts do their job? Play could be caused by a worn part, or worse yet, damage from being dropped.

Someone who has worked on many of these would be able to diagnose and repair it much easier than D.I.Y. And they would have the parts necessary to complete the repair.

Just a thought.

Does anyone know of a tutorial for disassembly of this lens? I've seen the youtube of mikeno62 that is of cleaning the front elements, but I haven't seen anything for the back end, to increase the friction of the sliding tube.
