5cmf2 Sonnar filter options

Can I use screw mount filters on a 1938 5cm f2 Sonnar? If not what are my options? Thanks.

Try 40.5mm p=50 filters.

I have researched and found conflicting info including NO screw ins and the 40.5 option. I have not received my lens yet, but have older pitch 40.5 filters. The photos I have seen show a very shallow thread. Thanks.

I just checked my 5cm f2 Jena Sonnar in Contax/Nikon RF mount, it has only a few threads on the front nose, but it will accept a 40.5mm screw-in hood. The hood turns exactly 360 degrees, then stops tight.

My 1930s 5cm/2 Sonnars (all chrome, 1 rigid & 2 collapsible) take 40.5 screw-in filters, both vintage & modern. Otherwise, you can find "Zeiss Ikon" labeled 42mm slip-on filters that will work, though obviously they don't work w/screw-in hoods.

I also have two collapsible pre war 5 cm f/2 Sonnars that accept 40.5 filters. I also have a pre war collapsible 5 cm f/3.5 Tessar which doesn't--it need 25.5 mm screw in accessories, which are a lot harder to find, although it will also work (sort of) with 42 mm push on filters.
