Has any of you built their own format masks for darkroom printing?
Should not be that difficult. In my case I need a 6x6 mask for the Kaiser V System.
Any recommendations on what material would be suitable etc.?

I have an old V60 Kaiser.
My enlarger has a weird generic type of mask with moving blades...which I have been recently informed that is designed for uncut rolls of film.
Anyway, as I had issues on projecting the edge frames of my six cut strips, I came up with a 35mm mask made out of black cardboard... It works fine and it is quite functional...
Actually it is designed out of one piece of cardboard folded in order to nest the filmstrip between its two parts. (More less like a scanner's film holder).
I hope this will be inspiring on your solution.
Best,
V.

Mat board from the hobby or art store is great. Buy the black boards. One 8x10 will do a lot of negative mats. It sounds like you mean negative holder, not a mask for the print. Either way, mat board is the easiest. 1/16" is fine. It may be sold as 4 ply or .05". Here's your best source if you are ordering online.
