Hi All,

Are there any 6X9's out there with built in meters? If I'm not mistaken the Fuji's don't have them but I hate using an external meter. Is there something or am I stuck with 6x7?

Jim

There is the one 100mm AE lens (metering built into the lens) for the interchangeable lens Fujis. Apart from that, you'd be stuck with 6x7.

That is, I vaguely remember a mini press camera (Linhof Technika 70 - Roger answered it) that had a meter integrated into the rangefinder top, but that was uncoupled, so the only advantage over an accessory shoe meter is a less cluttered camera.

And then there are Polaroid rebuilds - many of their pack film cameras were AE (but without manual metered operation).

Dear Jim,

Linhof Tech 70 with 6x9 back...

When I got my beat up Technika 70 I wasn't really counting on using it's meter, but I have found it to be fine. I do out of instinct use a hand meter more often than not.
But then if the OP finds a hand meter too cumbersome, perhaps this is not the camera for him. It is a great camera, but not always the most convenient camera.

I just picked up an AE100 lens for my Fuji....

Found it on eBay with a non working meter. I just sent it to Frank Marshman for a look-see and repair. It's an aperture preferred mechanism, setting the shutter speed with the meter.

These seem to be popping up somewhat regularly for sale. If it can be repaired, I trust Frank to be able to do that. I've seen his name in reference to this lens before.

Another reason I'd like to see it repaired is that it was the only lens made for the big interchangeable lens rangefinders that was EBC coated. I believe all the following lenses on the fixed lens rangefinders were EBC coated for flare resistance.

Otherwise, I'd probably get a Twinmate meter and pop it in the flash shoe of any other 6X9 I might use.

I'd not argue with a word of that.
